Static Hamstring Stretch

The static hamstring stretch stretches the hamstring muscles with minimal or no movement. It forms part of our hamstring strain rehabilitation program. You can perform this exercises in a standing position, or seated if you prefer.

How to perform a static hamstring stretch

Ease into the stretch and hold. You can perform this on a bench, table or the floor. Do not force it. You should feel a gentle stretch at the back of your thigh. This exercise targets the muscle fibres higher up the thigh more, as opposed to above the knee. The hamstring stretch on your back, with knee bent, targets the fibers nearer the knee.
